Job summary

Messer Construction Co. is seeking a Safety Manager in Columbus, OH to lead safety inspections, training, and health services across projects.

As part of the Environmental, Health and Safety Department, you will support project teams and regional leaders with risk management and policy implementation. The role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach to preventing injuries, with direct reporting to EHS leadership and collaboration with project

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field required or equivalent.
5+ years of leadership experience in construction safety.
Technical working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
Practical experience in employee safety training.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Champion Zero Injury Culture
Understand project schedule for risk planning
Develop & Manage relationships at all levels including projects/craft, regional leadership, safety peers and corporate
Develop Action Plans for Regional Safety Performance
Consistent presence on projects – Timely response to project questions or issues
Work with Project Management teams on job site safety planning, including safety meetings, orientations, site inspections and investigations
