Job summary

Keeley Construction is seeking a Safety Intern for Summer 2027 in St. Louis, MO.

The role supports safety initiatives across job sites, participates in trainings, and assists in reviewing subcontractor safety programs while promoting safe working practices under federal, state, and local regulations. You will work with the Project Safety Manager and field team to document safety records, participate in inspections, and learn Keeley’s safety culture and policies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in safety or construction.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to learn multiple tasks and take initiative.
• Compliance with safety assessments and pre-employment processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordination of safety duties (safety committees, preplanning and toolbox meetings).
• Participate in safety trainings, toolbox meetings, and orientations.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness and policy compliance.
• Promote safe work practices and conditions per regulations and contract requirements.
• Assist in site inspections with Project Safety Manager or Superintendent.
• Maintain safety records (pre-task plans, training, toolbox meetings, incident investigations).
• Complete assigned tasks and projects with diligence.
• Learn and adhere to Keeley’s safety culture and policies.
