Job summary

Power Construction is seeking a Safety Intern to support the Safety Department with day-to-day tasks, project support, and implementation of safety protocols at construction sites around Chicago. The role emphasizes organization, self-direction, and collaboration with project teams to promote injury prevention.

The intern will complete safety trainings, assist in documenting safety programs, and travel to various construction projects in the Chicago area as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong organization, communication and prioritization skills.
• Self-starter with ability to schedule and support teams.
• Desire for visiting construction projects and interacting with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement on-site safety program responsibilities and duties.
• Assist in developing, revising and conducting employee/subcontractor safety trainings.
• Identify, report and assist in resolution of safety violations, unsafe behaviors and non-compliant conditions.
• Relay safety-related communication and provide support to required parties (i.e. project team).
• Site safety documentation content review and management as required.
• Program and document development and revision as required.
• Assist in evaluation of company and contractor safety performance and selection.
• Additional assignments per Supervisor’s direction.
