Job summary

Turner Construction Bay Area is seeking an Entry-level Safety Intern to support the Environmental Health and Safety team in Walnut Creek, CA. The role involves assisting with safety programs, inspections, training, and recordkeeping on active construction projects and office locations.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in safety management, OSHA compliance, and site observations while working under supervision.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college/university safety, health, engineering or related program with at least 1 year of study completed.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques.
• Desire to learn about construction management and safety on site.
• Flexible to work standard hours and overtime as assigned.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate accountability and proactive learning.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing safety programs and daily safety tasks on construction projects or office locations.
• Assist with identifying and reporting safety violations or unsafe practices.
• Assist with safety committee coordination, meetings, and training.
• Assist with reviewing subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Assist with maintaining safety records and incident metrics.
• Assist with conducting site inspections and preparing inspection summaries.
• Assist with new employee orientations and participation tracking.
