Job summary

Qualifications

• Enrolled in college or university with a degree program in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field, with at least 1 year of completed education.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
• Desire to work in construction management and to learn about the construction industry.
• Flexible to work standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, curious, and eager to learn.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Limited travel may be required; access to reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing safety programs and daily safety tasks on site and in office.
• Identify and report safety violations or imminent dangers.
• Coordinate safety duties for safety committees, preplanning meetings, and toolbox talks.
• Coordinate training at safety meetings and orientations.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies.
• Promote safe work practices and conditions per regulations and owner requirements.
• Assist with administration of drug screening programs as needed.
• Support preconstruction meetings and document meetings under supervisor.
• Conduct jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
• Maintain safety records (pre-task plans, JHAs, training records, OSHA 300 logs, MSDS, chemical inventories).
• Assist with worker orientation and participate in attendance recording.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
