Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. offers a Safety Intern program that provides hands-on experience on active job sites. Interns work with Safety Managers, project teams, and mentors to learn regulations, hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and field leadership.

Assignments are in the Southeast region, with expectation to work outdoors, travel to project sites, and support inspections, trainings, and safety planning activities.

Qualifications

• Active pursuit of a degree related to safety, construction, or engineering.
• Interest in construction safety and field operations.
• Preference for OSHA 10/30 certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Safety Managers with daily job site safety inspections and audits.
• Participate in site orientations and safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Conduct observations to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and communicate findings to site leadership.
• Monitor job site activities to help ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and corrective action tracking.
• Support the completion of Job Hazard Analyses and other safety planning documents.
• Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training logs, and other project documentation.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre-task planning discussions.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and ensure PPE usage.
• Develop relationships with project teams to promote a positive safety culture.
• Other duties as assigned.
