Job summary

ITAC, a Virginia-based engineering and construction firm, seeks an experienced EHS Coordinator to lead safety initiatives across multiple projects. You will develop site-specific plans, mentor coordinators, and oversee incident investigations to drive corrective actions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in OH&S or related field, 7+ years in safety coordination for construction, strong OSHA knowledge, and proven training delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in OH&S or related field required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in safety coordination in construction.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and EHS regulations.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for training and reporting.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex safety incidents and develop solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and compliance.
  • Physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ITAC's EHS initiatives across projects, aligning with core values.
  • Oversee site-specific EHS plan development and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor junior EHS Coordinators and be a resource for safety queries.
  • Oversee incident investigations and create corrective action reports.
  • Conduct safety training sessions for project managers and field teams.
  • Evaluate field operations to improve safety practices and regulatory adherence.
  • Perform routine audits and inspections to identify improvement areas.
  • Conduct air quality monitoring and analysis as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with EHS personnel and project teams.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Embrace ITAC's Core Values in all aspects of the job
  • Provide leadership and oversight for EHS initiatives on various projects
  • Assist in the creation and refinement of Site-Specific EHS Plans that comply with regulatory requirements and ITAC standards
  • Mentor less experienced EHS Coordinators and serve as a key resource for EHS related queries
  • Oversee incident investigations, developing reports and action plans for corrective measures
  • Conduct safety training sessions for project managers and field employees, fostering a culture of safety
  • Evaluate field operations and implement improvements to enhance safety practices and adherence to regulations
  • Conduct routine audits and inspections of projects, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement
  • Perform air quality monitoring, sampling, and analysis as necessary
  • Maintain effective communication with other EHS personnel and project teams to convey safety concerns and solutions
Requirements
Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in safety coordination or related roles, with a focus on the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and EHS regulations
  • Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective safety training and reporting
  • Proven ability to analyze complex safety incidents and develop effective solutions
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail and compliance
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License and the ability to travel to various project sites
Certifications And Training Qualifications - Preferred / Desired
  • OSHA 500 Certification - Outreach trainer
  • CPR and First Aid certifications
  • CHST - Certified Safety & Health Technician
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional
  • Other relevant EHS certifications
  • Bilingual is preferred, not required
