Job summary

Keel Infrastructure is seeking a seasoned Construction Safety Director to lead safety across our HPC and AI data center portfolio. You will oversee field safety leadership, contractor management, and safety performance from groundbreaking through turnover, ensuring worker protection at every stage.

This high-impact role requires extensive travel to active projects and strong leadership to align safety with aggressive construction schedules.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction EHS with leadership on large, complex projects.
• Experience leading safety teams across multiple sites.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards in construction and energization environments.
• Willingness to travel extensively to active project sites.

Responsibilities

• Set construction safety standards across the build program.
• Hold GCs, partners, and subcontractors to Keel safety standards.
• Direct risk assessment, job planning, and safety performance of projects.
• Direct controls for high-risk work: heights, energized electrical, arc flash, LOTO.
• Govern safe energization and commissioning (NFPA 70E, energ ized-work permits).
• Run site audits and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Vet and qualify contractors before award, tracking safety history.
• Lead incident investigations and root‑cause analyses and share lessons.
• Collaborate with development, construction, and operations to align safety with schedules.
• Build and lead a team of project safety managers across sites.
• Report safety metrics to the VP, H&S and escalate risks.
• Champion Stop Work Authority and a speak-up culture.

About The Role

We are seeking a difference maker and seasoned Construction Safety Director to lead all aspects of construction safety across our HPC and AI data center portfolio. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of field safety leadership, contractor management, and mission-critical construction. You’ll be accountable for keeping workers safe from groundbreaking through energization, commissioning, and turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Set construction safety standards across the build program.
• Hold GCs, partners, and subcontractors to Keel safety standards.
• Direct risk assessment, job planning, and safety performance of construction projects.
• Direct controls for high-risk work: heights, energized electrical and arc flash, lockout/tagout, confined space, critical lifts, excavation, silica, and heat.
• Govern safe energization and commissioning (NFPA 70E, energized-work permits, LOTO).
• Run site audits and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Vet and qualify contractors before award, tracking safety history, EMR, and performance on Keel projects.
• Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis, driving timely corrective actions and sharing lessons across sites.
• Collaborate closely with development, construction, and operations teams to align safety with site schedules and turnover.
• Build, coach, and lead a team of project safety managers across multiple concurrent sites.
• Report safety metrics to the VP, H&S and escal[??]e emerging risks.
• Champion Stop Work Authority and a speak-up culture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction EHS, with a track record leading safety on large, complex projects, preferably data center, hyperscale, mission-critical, or power construction.
• Deep command of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, NFPA 70E, and electrical / commissioning safety on energized systems.
• Proven success holding GCs and subcontractors to owner safety standards across multiple projects.
• Experience building and leading safety teams across multiple concurrent sites.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership and external partners.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; CSP strongly preferred (CHST, CIH, or ASP a plus); OSHA 500/510 and current First Aid / CPR.
• Willing to travel extensively to active project sites.

Place of Work

This is a Pennsylvania-based role with extensive travel to Moses Lake, WA through Q2 2027. Keel maintains offices in downtown New York City, Pittsburgh, PA, and Brossard, QC.
