CES Consulting, LLC, is an engineering and construction management firm focused on quality, safety, compliance, innovation, and value. The firm was founded in 2010 by three professionals passionate about resolving complex construction, time, and cost issues to ensure that transportation and civil infrastructure are safe, durable, and compliant. CES is a VDOT pre-qualified contractor specializing in the construction of interstate and roadway lighting, overhead and ground-mounted signs, traffic signals, electrical work ITS, and roadway construction. We are seeking to hire a Project Manager to support our clients in the Northern Virginia area.

Position Summary

The Project Manager position is a full-time role with direct responsibility for project documentation, procurement of materials, preparation of subcontracts, invoicing and certifications, scheduling, quality assurance and quality control, and assisting with certified payrolls. The Project Manager will work with other employees, subcontractors, prime contractors, clients, and owners to ensure compliance with contract bid documents, plans, and specifications. The candidate must have experience with procurement, scheduling, material tracking, invoicing, writing correspondence, preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, and reconciling budgets. Experience performing administrative tasks for heavy highway civil construction projects is required to ensure completion safely, on time, and within budget.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure the assigned project/task is completed on schedule and in accordance with the plans and specifications.
  • Follow all requirements in the Company / Employee Handbook and Safety Manual including safety training, employee observation, emergency procedures, and accident reporting and investigation.
  • Ensure compliance of production staff with company policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT guidelines.
  • Read and follow plans, shop drawings, material lists, guidelines and apply necessary timelines to meet project completion schedules.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to the project schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Handle project administration, including cost control, schedule control and change order administration.
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established schedules.
  • Prepare contracts and subcontracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with owners, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and engineers.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures and programs.
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
  • Assist with supervising activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
  • Submit crewmember’s timesheets to CES payroll department daily.
  • Record and submit production reports for all work performed and quantities installed daily.
  • Maintain good relations with the public, engineers, architects, inspectors and customers to facilitate job progress and promote a positive company image.
  • Develop Project Completion Schedules and budgets.
  • Prepare and evaluate Change Orders.
  • Order materials or supplies.
Education And/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience required.
  • Experience in highway construction preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
  • OSHA 10 hour preferred.
  • VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Safety Traffic Control Certification preferred.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I preferred.
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Contractors Certification (ESCCC) preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR training preferred.
  • Current Driver’s License required.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to read plans and field location layout stakes.
  • Able to write simple correspondence and complete timesheets and quantity production sheets.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and units of measure.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Able to communicate with crew members professionally and effectively.
  • Team and Safety Oriented.
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
Physical Demands
  • Includes standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Able to work overtime and weekends, if necessary.
  • Able to travel when required.
Working Conditions
  • Work indoors in an office environment with occasional visits to outdoor project sites that are exposed to changing weather conditions in all seasons.
  • Noise level in outdoor work environments is loud.
  • Exposure to dust, grease, gasoline, diesel fuel, concrete, and other construction site factors.
