The position requires 3 years of roadway/bridge inspection experience and possession or ability to obtain key certifications listed in the job posting. Day and night shifts may be required with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain comprehensive project records using standard management software and testing procedures.
• Communicate with stakeholders, assist with change orders, investigations, and notices to file claims.

Position Summary

The Construction Inspector will be responsible for ensuring contractors compliance through reviewing interpreting and enforcing plans and contract documents for efficient and timely inspection of the contractors work and additional duties including

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Independently plan coordinate inspect and oversee project inspection activities of roadway structure and bridge maintenance projectsMonitor contractors and schedules to ensure quality control and contract compliance of moderate to complex construction projectsApply knowledge and experience toward the inspection of roadways and bridges using VDOT standards specifications and proceduresApply engineering principles in the inspection and documentation of construction activitiesRecommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide cost savingsReview and monitor EEODBE documentation and compliance with contract documentsOversee direct and review the work of Inspectors and Inspector TraineesMaintain comprehensive project records and documentation using the VDOT Materials Book & project management software which could include VDOT Site ManagerComplete testing of materials using VDOT testing proceduresApply Best Management Practices to environmental inspection activities using DEQ standards and specificationsApply Best Management Practices to safety activitiesCommunicate with various stakeholders including Localities and VDOTAssist with the development of change orders investigations and the analysis of Notices of Intent to File Claims
