Responsibilities

• Observe construction work to ensure procedures are followed and materials conform to specifications and submittals.
• Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions for structural installations and layouts.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
• Interpret plans and specifications for contractors and discuss deviations with engineers, contractors, and owners to ensure compliance.
• Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
• Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
• Compute monthly estimates of work completed and review contractor payments.
• Prepare sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and report such changes for record drawings.
• Monitor contractor work schedules, coordinate with testing laboratories, and request necessary testing.
