Job summary

HNTB Corporation in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced CEI professional for current and future construction work in Central Florida. FDOT Asphalt, Concrete and Earthwork experience is a must.

The role involves both field oversight and office support, including plan reviews, testing, and coordination with the Resident Engineer to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Candidates should have an Associate's degree with 4 years of CEI experience or a Bachelor's in Construction

Qualifications

• Associates degree with 4+ years of relevant CEI experience or Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years in Construction Management or related field.
• FDOT Asphalt, Concrete and Earthwork experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents and plans.

Responsibilities

• Performs office management engineer tasks including preparing meeting agendas/minutes and tracking RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and deliverables.
• Monitors construction field work to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
• Reads and checks compliance with contract documents and tests on-site materials as needed.
• Reviews plans to determine material quantities and pricing, ensuring procedures meet specs.
• Interprets drawings and identifies discrepancies; reviews contractor daily reports and as-builts.

We are seeking an experienced CEI professional for current and future construction work in Central Florida. FDOT Asphalt, Concrete and Earthwork experience is a must. What You’ll Do

• Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.
• Assists with and monitors construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
• Reads, comprehends, and checks for compliance with applicable contract documents.
• Performs or observes on-site material testing.
• Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc. and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
• Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness and consistency.
• Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark‑ups, documents project progress using video and photos.
• Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions and assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
• Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research.
• Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Associates degree in relevant field and 4 years relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 2 years relevant experience.

What You’ll Bring

• Recognizes and escalates discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
• Interprets and understands the contractor schedules to provide feedback.
• Operates relevant testing equipment for assigned duties.
• Understands Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software at an intermediate level.
• Calculates complex pay quantities.
• Identifies, documents, and escalates change conditions.
• Understands document controls for the project (i.e., materials documentation of RFI, contractor payment, contractor employment records) at an intermediate level with guidance from more senior staff.

What We Prefer

• National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level 1, Construction Manager‑in‑Training (CMIT), Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Level 1‑A and 1‑B, or American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications.
• Trained in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite or similar preferred
