Purchasing Specialist (buying/purchasing/procurement exp. req.) Description

Our client, in residential construction, is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Purchasing Specialist to join their team in Atlanta, GA. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will work alongside two other agents to support the purchasing process, ensuring that materials and services are sourced effectively and economically to meet project timelines and budgets. Their VP of Purchasing joined their team over the last year, and she has made it a point to ensure their environment and culture is filled with fulfillment, resources, and appreciation. She enjoys being a mentor and supporting her team’s career objectives. This is a great opportunity to not only broaden your horizons with less of that rinse and repeat tedious workload, but you will also have a direct impact on optimizing workflow for a company in growth mode.

Purchasing Specialist (buying/purchasing/procurement exp. req.) Responsibilities

• Evaluate suppliers, goods, and services for project needs

• Identify and maintain a network of quality suppliers and partners

• Organize the purchasing process and issue purchase orders (POs)

• Review costs and sales prices to ensure competitive positioning

• Complete lot starts and validate unit costs before release

• Maintain and monitor project budgets for accuracy

• Input direct costs into the budgeting system and report changes

• Request proposals, negotiate contracts, and obtain favorable pricing

• Process purchase orders efficiently to meet project timelines

• Maintain detailed records of transactions, orders, receipts, and payments

• Partner with the Construction Manager to align materials and labor

• Prepare thorough direct cost analyses and variance reports for analysis

Purchasing Specialist (buying/purchasing/procurement exp. req.) Qualifications

• Purchasing background in construction, architecture, or trade environments required

• Experience negotiating with trade partners/suppliers required

• Familiar with material takeoffs required

• Able to work onsite daily required
