Job summary

EPS Group, Inc. is seeking an ambitious, early-career Project Manager to lead our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) division in Mesa, AZ. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field is required.
  • Prior experience working with underground utilities preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
  • Safety-mindedness is critical; certifications are preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry practices and risk management desirable.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Understanding of budgets, negotiating, and contract management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals and estimates for projects.
  • Oversee construction sites, contractors, and sub-consultants to ensure quality, safety, and plan adherence.
  • Review sub-contractor pay applications to ensure accurate billings and progress.
  • Follow company practices to complete tasks on time and within scope.
  • Ensure all work aligns with manuals and procedures.
  • Interact professionally with team, clients, and vendors to protect EPS Group brand.
  • Mediate disputes and assist leadership in project decisions for client outcomes.
  • Understand liabilities and risks of a project and manage accordingly.
  • Manage contract processes: RFIs, invoices, change orders, and additional services.
  • Complete timecards accurately and supervise assigned staff where applicable.

Reports To: Subsurface Utility Group Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Are you a recent Construction Management graduate looking for more than just standard field-engineer tasks? We are seeking an ambitious, early-career Project Manager to step into our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) division and prepare to lead it.

You will work directly alongside our current SUE Operations Manager to learn the discipline inside and out- from field logistics and utility locating technologies (ASCE 38 standards) to crew coordination, budgeting, and client delivery. This role is designed as a direct succession track: you'll receive hands-on mentorship with the clear objective of stepping up to fully manage and grow the SUE service line as our current leader transitions out.

Core Responsibilities
  • Responsible for preparing proposals and estimates for
  • Oversee construction sites, contractors, and sub-consultants to ensure a high level of
    quality, safety, and adherence to plans from conception to completion.
  • Reviews sub-contractor pay applications to ensure billings, budget, and completion
  • Understand and follow company practices and processes to perform tasks on time and within
  • Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and
  • Interact with team, clients, and vendors professionally, care for the EPS Group brand and
  • Mediate any disagreements among the project team and make decisions in the company and its clients' best
  • Understand the liabilities and risks of a
  • Responsible for contract management, including requests for information, invoice review and approval, additional services, proposals, and change
  • Responsible for completing timecards accurately and on time and review assigned staff, if applicable
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or related field is required.
  • Prior experience working with underground utilities preferred.
  • The ability to understand blueprints and construction documents
  • Safety-mindedness is a critical aspect of the position. Certifications are preferred.
  • Familiarity and ability to read blueprints.

Physical Requirements
