Long Beach, CA-based Construction Project Manager role for a specialty subcontractor, in-person, full-time. Base salary $80,000 with an uncapped quarterly incentive; total compensation projected around $140,000.

Candidate will manage multiple, smaller projects through full lifecycle, coordinating with estimating, field teams, and customers. Experience in specialty subcontractor environments, DSAs, and public works is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review contracts, plans, and project requirements.

Our client is a fast-growing specialty construction company expanding its Southern California operations. The company manages technically complex construction projects and is focused on delivering high-quality work while developing strong project management talent.

Position Summary

The Construction Project Manager will take ownership of projects from contract award through final completion. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who can manage a high volume of smaller projects at different stages while keeping priorities, deadlines, documentation, and communication organized.

The Project Manager will work closely with estimating, project management, and field teams while serving as a key point of contact for customers, general contractors, and project partners.

Experience in a specialty subcontractor environment is strongly preferred, particularly candidates with experience managing DSA, public works, or other projects involving significant documentation, inspections, and compliance requirements .

Responsibilities

• Review contracts, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  
• Manage project startup, planning, scheduling, and overall execution.
  
• Manage multiple concurrent projects at varying stages of construction.
  
• Prepare and coordinate submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
  
• Manage change orders, including identifying scope changes, pricing, and tracking approvals.
  
• Coordinate material procurement and project-specific equipment requirements.
  
• Monitor project budgets, job costs, billing, and overall financial performance.
  
• Track project progress and identify schedule, cost, and coordination issues.
  
• Participate in preconstruction meetings, job walks, and project coordination meetings.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant construction Project Management, Assistant Project Management, or Project Engineer experience; 5-6 years preferred.
  
• Experience working for a specialty subcontractor strongly preferred .
  
• Demonstrated experience managing projects through the construction lifecycle.
  
• Experience with contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, scheduling, financial tracking, and project closeout.
  
• Proven ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects and competing priorities.
  
• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
  
• DSA, public works, or similarly complex project experience strongly preferred.
  
• Experience with structural concrete/rebar or other technically complex specialty construction scopes preferred.
  
• Bluebeam experience preferred.
  
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  
• Comfortable working directly with customers, general contractors, field personnel, and internal project teams.
  
• Ability to take ownership, anticipate issues, and keep projects moving in a fast-paced environment.
