Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:This position will report to the Manager within Strategic Infrastructure Planning and Implementation, which is responsible for all planning, design and construction efforts for Henry Ford Health (HFH). The position is responsible for developing, managing, implementing, design and construction of projects under the guidance of a SPM.
Projects will include but are not limited to: multi-phased renovation projects, medical equipment projects, infrastructure projects, and any other projects as assigned. The principal accountabilities are to assume successful completion of all projects frominitiation to occupancy by coordinating with design and overseeing construction, equipment, furnishing, IT, and supporting occupancy planning. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to space planning, design, project finance, project programming, conceptual estimating, and review with the authority having jurisdiction and project close out.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and manages project scope, schedule and budget for assigned projects at all HFH locations.
2. Assures compliance with internal policies, procedures, standards of accrediting bodies and government agencies. Supports and implements activities associatedwith the Joint Commission, CMS for Environment of Care and Life Safety, LARA –Bureau of Community & Health Systems – Health Facilities Engineering Section and Bureau of Fire Services.
3. Meet with customer (key stakeholders and end users) to define the scope of work and assess the space requirements, etc. to support moving forward to the estimating phase.
4. As needed, work with internal or outsourced A/E to develop a preliminary plan to review with the customer to define the project scope prior to estimating the cost.
5. Coordinate with interior design for furnishing, finishes and equipment to be incorporated into the Construction Documents.
6. Review with Medxcel Facilities the capacity of the infrastructure serving the project area to determine if funds to upgrade it needs to be included in the total project budget.
7. Develop the total project budget, submit to the customer for their review and approval.
8. Once the customer provides the source of funding, prepare proper forms and documentation and collaborate with team members to finalize and submit to Finance.
9. Works with Strategic Sourcing on award for architect / engineers, contractors and construction managers.
10.Review proposed subcontractor bid list from the Construction Manager to ensure alignment with HFH system goals, including opportunities for diverse contractors.
11.Participate in design meetings to ensure there are no additions to the scope of work. Approve A/E’s request for additional services.
12.Oversee construction progress meetings.
13.Maintains electronic records of all project documentation.
14.Monitors project scope and schedules.
15.Tracks project cost, projections and expenditures in e-Builder.
16.Coordinates with Trimedx on equipment selection, procurement and installation.
17.Collaborates with Medxcel Facilities.
18.When applicable, provide Medxcel Facilities, Trimedx and HF IT a set of the Construction Documents for their review and comments. Review any comments with them and have the A/E revise the Construction Documents for those that are
applicable to the scope of the project.
19.Collaborates with the Information Technology Construction Project Manager.
20.Collaborates care areas to create a positive patient experience.
21.Communicates effectively with leadership and department during projects.
22.Works across an integrated system by developing strong partnerships.
23.Uses analytical and quantitative acumen related to planning, design, and construction.
24.Manages and prioritizes multiple projects.
25.Reviews CM’s project closeout documentation prior to final payment, saves electronically in the project folder and shares with Medxcel Facilities.
26.Reviews A/E’s final record drawings (PDFs and CAD files), saves electronically in the project folder, shares with the internal Design Lead prior to final payment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in healthcare design and construction project management.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Self-directed and motivated.
• Effective collaborator; accountable for self and others.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), Bluebeam, eBuilder, and SharePoint.
