Amazon is looking for a Construction Manager who will be responsible for the design and construction of EV charging stations across Amazon facilities in the US. This Construction Project Manager will handle both the design management and construction execution of EV charging infrastructure, including power distribution systems and charging stations.
This involves overseeing the design process and ensuring compliance with Amazon's standards, local codes, and project-specific requirements. The projects focus on EV charger installations, electrical distribution, and service upgrades. Construction Project Managers will collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other design consultants to develop optimal EV charging solutions. They will review design documents and ensure seamless integration of charging infrastructure with existing and new facility systems.
Construction Project Managers are required to perform detailed deep dive reviews of designs, job budgets, and schedules to identify and resolve any discrepancies, including information in contractor bid packages. They will also manage design and construction related change orders and value engineering processes to optimize project outcomes.
Construction Project Managers will partner with internal customers and external stakeholders (including utility companies, electrical contractors, charging equipment manufacturers, and design professionals) to earn their trust and engage as a team to deliver results. The Construction Project Manager will serve as Amazon's representative and direct point of interface with Developers, General Contractors, Utilities, Electrical Contractors, Equipment Vendors, and Design Consultants, as well as the primary integrator between design and construction and other Amazon stakeholders responsible for implementing, furnishing, and operating our EV charging network.
This opportunity combines design management, construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management.
- A completed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or comparable field
- 7+ years of experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, or other Construction related disciplines
- 7+ years project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation
- 7+ years of experience negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts
- Experience with at least two disciplines within the construction industry, which could consist of General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, or Engineering & Design, or similar.
- Demonstrated success in communicating project requirements to various audiences (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, vendors, etc.)
- Experience inclusive of facilities manager or similar and demonstrated capability in the planning, design review & implementation, and project management / control of new structures & the enhancement of existing facility buildings
- Experience in program management of concurrent projects
- Project Management accreditation (PMP or similar)
