Job summary

ARCO Companies is seeking a motivated Project Manager Intern to support a range of construction management tasks this summer. You will assist with estimating, scheduling, design meetings, buyouts, permitting, submittal reviews, billing, and site visits, gaining hands-on experience in a design-build environment.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and a rigorous work ethic. Housing stipends and a clear path to potential full-time opportunities are offered to deserving interns.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil/Mechanical/Architectural or Construction Management Bachelor’s degree program.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
• Previous Internship or Co-op construction experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic

Responsibilities

• Estimating – describe project proposals and assign dollar values.
• Scheduling – create a working timeline for subcontractors/trades to complete the project on time.
• Design meetings – attend design meetings with owner and team to understand proposals.
• Buyout – issue bid instructions, schedule, and drawings; receive and evaluate proposals and award subs.
• Permitting – fill out permit forms and submit with drawings and fees for approval.
• Shop drawing/submittal review – review submittals and coordinate with PM.
• Billing – manage subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay apps.
• Job site visits – accompany PM to ensure project runs smoothly.
