Job summary

ARCO a Family of Construction Companies is seeking a motivated Civil/Mechanical/Architectural or Construction Management student for a 6–8 month full-time Co-op. You will assist Project Managers with estimating, scheduling, design meetings, buyout, permitting, and site visits to gain real-world experience.

Enrollment in a related bachelor’s program is required with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Excellent communication and a strong work ethic are essential for success in this hands-on role.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil/Mechanical/Architectural or Construction Management Bachelor’s degree program.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 out of 4.0.
• Previous Internship or Co-op construction experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Estimating – describe project proposals and assign dollar values to the projects.
• Scheduling – create a working timeline for subcontractors/trades to complete the project on time.
• Design meetings – attend design meetings with owner and team to understand design proposals from structural engineers and architects.
• Buyout – send bid instructions, schedule, and drawings to subcontractors; receive and evaluate proposals and award subcontracts.
• Permitting – fill out permit forms, submit forms with drawings and fees, then send to city/county/fire for approval.
• Shop drawing and submittal review – review shop drawings/submittals and coordinate with PM to order materials.
• Billing – manage subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications.
• Job site visits – accompany PM to ensure project runs smoothly.
