Job summary

Standard Communities is seeking a Project Manager, Construction to support the new construction team on affordable multifamily housing projects. You will review design drawings and specs to ensure compliance with standards, and perform site visits to monitor progress against schedule, budget, and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of Project Manager experience with a General Contractor.
  • Experience overseeing residential housing projects and managing subcontractors across trades.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and full project lifecycle.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with organization and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee multiple affordable multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through final completion.
  • Review design packages and drawings to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing GC estimates to avoid scope gaps and suggest value engineering options.
  • Attend design meetings and coordinate requirements with internal and external teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Conduct early meetings with AHJs and utility providers to introduce Standard Communities and align delivery dates.
  • Present project plans and obtain feedback on phasing and delivery timelines.
  • Review inspections, notice periods, and transformer/meter lead times to prevent delays.
  • Hold follow-up meetings three months before first phase delivery to secure commitments.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and document milestones.
  • Track schedules, address delays with stakeholders, and mitigate risks with PM tools.
  • Monitor budgets with the internal development team.
  • Provide initial review of payments, change orders, and cost reports; final approvals by development team.
  • Review three-week look-ahead schedules to identify risks and maintain alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and permitting.
  • Track long lead items with GC and ensure timely procurement.
  • Collaborate with Director of Construction Management on planning and process improvements.
  • Document lessons learned and apply to future projects.
