Job summary

HDR is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead small to medium projects and large routine initiatives, overseeing planning, staffing, schedule management, and financial performance to ensure successful delivery.

You will build relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, supervise CA staff, manage QA/QC, and drive continuous process improvement across teams.

This role requires a Bachelor's in a related field, 7+ years of experience, and PMP is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 years related construction experience.
  • 2+ years project management experience.
  • Ability to interact with design teams and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Active participant in employee-owned culture is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline projects or large, routine projects including planning, staffing, workload coordination, schedule management, resource allocation, and financial performance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders while representing the organization in project, compliance, quality, and coordination activities.
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documentation with other staff.
  • Lead and oversee Construction Administration staff, including workload allocation, staffing coordination, training, performance support, and team communications.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort to meet schedule and budget parameters.
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller for project reviews and with management as needed.
  • Lead, develop, and support Construction Administration staff through mentoring, training, and performance guidance.
  • Establish, maintain and enforce quality control processes, including standards, checklists, and documentation.

In the role of Construction Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

Lead and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline projects or large, routine projects including planning, staffing, workload coordination, schedule management, resource allocation, and financial performance to ensure successful project execution.

Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders while representing the organization in project, compliance, quality, and coordination activities.

Conduct work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff.

Lead and oversee Construction Administration (CA) staff, including workload allocation, staffing coordination, training, performance support, and team communications.

Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.

Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.

Lead, develop, and support Construction Administration staff through workforce planning, workload management, mentoring, training, technical guidance, and performance support to ensure effective project delivery and professional growth.

Establish, maintain, and enforce quality control processes, including review standards, checklists, documentation requirements, and performance expectations.

Develop, implement, and enforce quality assurance, quality control, document management, compliance, and project closeout processes to support consistent and high-quality project outcomes.

Lead operational and process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities, implementing best practices, optimizing workflows, and aligning staffing and project priorities to support business objectives.

Represent the organization in quality assurance, quality control, inspection, and regulatory coordination activities as required.

Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience.

A minimum of 2 years of experience in various aspects of construction planning and management, including field engineering, construction submittals, estimating, scheduling, and site safety.

Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, etc.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).

Ability to interpret construction schedules.

A license/certification.

PMP Certification.

Must be able to lead a team on projects.

Good planning and mentoring skills.

OSHPD Experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
