Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update overall project schedules.
  • Coordinate manpower, subcontractors, materials, and equipment to meet timelines.
  • Monitor critical path activities and identify potential schedule delays.
  • Track milestones, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Lead or participate in owner, subcontractor, and internal meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes, action items and follow-ups.
  • Track issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinate communication between all project stakeholders.
  • Review drawings, specs, contracts and scope requirements.
  • Track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and procurement activities.
  • Identify and resolve challenges before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Monitor field progress and verify progress on site.
  • Prepare and distribute project meeting agendas.

Job description

The General Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This role focuses heavily on project scheduling, meeting management, contractor coordination, progress tracking, and ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within budget. The Project Manager serves as the central point of communication between field staff, subcontractors, clients, vendors, and company leadership.

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, maintain, and update overall project schedules.
  • Coordinate manpower, subcontractors, materials, and equipment to meet project timelines.
  • Monitor critical path activities and identify potential schedule delays.
  • Track project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Work with Superintendents and field teams to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Assist with project phasing, sequencing, and logistics planning.
  • Prepare and distribute project meeting agendas.
  • Lead or participate in owner, subcontractor, and internal project meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up requirements.
  • Track open issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinate communication between all project stakeholders.

Project Coordination

  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and procurement activities.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges before they impact schedule or budget.
  • Ensure project documentation is accurate and organized.

Construction Operations Support

  • Monitor field progress and compare against schedule milestones.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to verify progress and project conditions.
  • Support field leadership with scheduling, planning, and project execution.
  • Assist in resolving construction conflicts and coordination issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and project requirements.

Budget & Reporting

  • Track project costs and budget performance.
  • Assist with forecasting and project financial reporting.
  • Monitor change orders and potential cost impacts.
  • Provide regular project status updates to management and clients.
  • Generate reports on schedule progress, project health, and key performance indicators.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of construction project management, project coordination, or superintendent experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and/or industrial construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience creating and managing project schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
