Job summary

Upchurch is seeking a Project Manager to lead mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through close-out. You will manage scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and client relationships across HVAC, plumbing, and process piping scopes.

This role requires 5+ years of PM experience in commercial construction, strong leadership, and the ability to travel to job sites. A related bachelor's degree and OSHA 30 are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in mechanical or commercial construction.
  • Proven experience managing HVAC, plumbing, or process piping scopes.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, project financials, and cost controls.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Bluebeam, and PM platforms (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, BIM 360).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical specifications.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a solutions mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering; OSHA 30; design-build/negotiated contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple commercial mechanical projects simultaneously.
  • Develop budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project financials, forecast costs, and maintain profitability.
  • Track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Serve as primary contact for general contractors, owners, engineers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate with field supervisors, foremen, and safety personnel.
  • Attend jobsite meetings and conduct progress walkthroughs.
  • Enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and support Assistant PMs and Project Engineers.
  • Ensure timely close-out with punch lists and turnover docs.

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for leading mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through close-out, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery. The PM oversees all aspects of project execution including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, field coordination, and client relationships. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills within the HVAC, plumbing, and process piping scopes of commercial construction.

Key Responsibilities
