Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Reston, VA is seeking an Assistant Engineer to support project delivery on a major construction program. The role includes building the project on paper, supervising interns and engineering assistants, and coordinating with architects and owners.

The incumbent applies knowledge of BIM/LEAN, contract documents, and scheduling to keep work on time and within budget. Regular on-site work and collaboration across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus minimum two years of related experience.
• Proficiency reading, interpreting contract documents, drawings, specs and schedules.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Proven written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors and owner's representatives.
• Oversee drawings and contract information; ensure relation to the estimate.
• Manage the project budget.
• Coordinate submittals and shop drawings; resolve interpretation conflicts.
• Negotiate change orders; prepare analyses and obtain approvals.
• Oversee close-out; prepare records and warranties; ensure contract compliance.
