Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Interest in optimizing buildings and the construction industry.
• Prior construction internship experience is a plus.
• Solution-based problem solver.
• Ability to work with and grow in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.

Dewberry is currently seeking a Construction Project Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Dewberry Design Build in our Ashland, VA office. The selected candidate will become part of a growing team that provides a full range of construction services. In this position, the selected candidate will earn experience moving construction projects through all phases from concept to completion and will receive direct mentoring from seasoned construction managers. Typical projects are diverse and require strong technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

Work closely with project manager and project team leaders to assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of project plans, purchasing activities, submittal reviews, and project schedules.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Interest and passion for optimizing buildings and the construction industry.
• Previous construction internship experience is a plus.
• Solution based problem solver.
• Ability to work with and grow in a team environment
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surface
