STRUCTURAL in Long Island City, NY is seeking a Project Engineer for our Career Development program. You will learn scheduling, estimating, budgeting, safety, quality control, and client relations while supporting field operations and project teams.

This in-office role emphasizes mentorship and hands-on experience across multiple competencies, with clear paths to career advancement into project management, estimating, or construction management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field is required.
  • 1–2 years experience in the construction industry (commercial/industrial preferred).
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • A minimum of one relevant internship experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional documentation and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for solving problems.
  • Reliable transportation from the office to job-sites.

Responsibilities

  • Master critical construction skills including scheduling and production rate tracking, estimating, budget preparation and project cost control, safety management, quality control, and business development and client relations.
  • Be developed through the PECD program with mentorship and exposure to multiple competencies before promotion into the career path you desire.

The goal of our PECD program is to develop our people into company leaders. In order to accomplish that, the PECD program has a competency-based approach with an emphasis on individual mentorship. Our Project Engineers will build experience across multiple competencies before being promoted into the career path they desire — project management, estimating, construction management and more.

About the Team

STRUCTURAL Long Island City's office is located in Long Island City, NY and is primarily an in-office position. The vast majority of our LIC team's work is concentrated in the Boroughs, with a heavy emphasis on parking structure, plaza deck and pier repair work. Long Island City's primary market is commercial, with an emphasis on strengthening and repairing parking structures and other unique concrete structures. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Preference for Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field of study
  • 1-2 years experience in the construction industry (commercial/industrial preferred)
