Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Construction Project Cost Estimator in Milwaukee, WI to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. You will support preconstruction, bidding, budgeting, and value engineering while collaborating with project management, field operations, subcontractors, and leadership.

The role emphasizes identifying risks, developing budgets, bid summaries, and ensuring projects are set up for successful execution.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (GC preferred).
• Strong understanding of commercial construction means and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (Bluebeam or similar).
• Strong Excel and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bid estimates for commercial construction projects from early concept through final bidding.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
• Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
• Develop budgets, unit pricing, and bid summaries
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and constructability issues
• Participate in value engineering and cost optimization efforts
• Support project handoff to project management and field teams
• Assist with change order pricing and project cost reviews as needed
• Perform additional project-related tasks as required or directed by the Director of Construction / company leadership

With over 75 years of combined experience, our Commercial Construction Company was founded in 2020 in Franklin, WI, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began with small handyman projects in the local community quickly evolved into residential remodels, large-scale additions, and new residential construction projects. By 2022, we had established strong relationships within the local commercial real estate community, paving the way for the company’s first commercial projects. In late 2022 we made a full transition into a dedicated commercial general contractor. Since then, the team has successfully delivered a diverse portfolio of commercial work-including office and industrial tenant improvements, franchise retail and hospitality buildouts, multi-family CapEx program management, and more. Construction Project Cost Estimator

Position Summary

The Construction Project Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The role supports preconstruction, bidding, budgeting, and value engineering efforts while working closely with project management, field operations, subcontractors, and leadership. The Estimator plays a key role in setting projects up for successful execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare bid estimates for commercial construction projects from early concept through final bidding.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
• Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
• Develop budgets, unit pricing, and bid summaries
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and constructability issues
• Participate in value engineering and cost optimization efforts
• Support project handoff to project management and field teams
• Assist with change order pricing and project cost reviews as needed
• Perform additional project-related tasks as required or directed by the Director of Construction / company leadership
