Job summary

Short-Elliott-Hendrickson, Incorporated (SEH) is seeking a Construction Project Coordinator to join our Construction Services team supporting highway project inspections along the Florida Panhandle.

You will document field activities, assist with meetings, coordinate with clients and contractors, and contribute to cost estimates and schedules as needed. This role emphasizes collaboration, safety, and quality on complex projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience as Construction Project Representative or similar role.
• Willingness to travel as needed and tolerate various weather conditions.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently.
• FDOT/County/Municipal project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect highway projects to verify plans and specs.
• Document field activities, sampling, testing, and quantities.
• Assist with pre-construction, progress, and change-order meetings.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and SEH staff.
• Support proposals, budgets, and constructability reviews.

This Opportunity

Join our talented team to support highway project field inspections and oversite, working alongside an established team to expand our presence throughout the Florida Panhandle. Inspect construction on highway and transportation projects to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications. Document the day‑to‑day field and inspection activities, material sampling and testing, and measuring of quantities. Prepare for and assist with pre‑construction meetings, progress, and conflict resolution meetings, negotiate and prepare construction change orders. Interact and communicate with clients, contractors, and other SEH personnel. Candidates with skills in AutoCAD or Microstation will participate in production activities while in the office. May assist in development of proposals, estimating project budgets and schedules and completing constructability reviews.

Essential Qualifications

• This opportunity is open to candidates located near Tallahassee, Panama City, Destin, Pensacola, Fort Myers, Florida, or surrounding locations
• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong experience in the construction field serving as a Construction Project Representative or related role
• Must have good communication skills and be able to work independently
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and be able to walk and climb over rough terrain associated with construction sites
• Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on‑site observations, etc.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications

• Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Construction Project Representative on FDOT, County and/or Municipal construction projects involving earthwork, concrete and bituminous paving, site improvements, and street/utility construction
• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or related field
• Possession of applicable FDOT Technical Certifications or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
• Previous experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $50 and $55 per hour based on skill set and experience.
