Job summary

Michael Page US is partnering with a Houston-based construction client to recruit a Project Controller. The role partners with senior finance leadership to protect project profitability across a portfolio of major projects.

Key responsibilities include leading project financial administration, forecasting, reporting, risk analysis, and mentorship of junior staff. The successful applicant will hold a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and 8+ years in project accounting or controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Approximately 8+ years of progressive experience in project accounting, construction accounting, project controls, or related finance functions.
• Experience supporting large-scale construction, engineering, infrastructure, or project-based environments.
• Strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, cost controls, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to identify financial risks, recommend solutions, and influence project decision-making.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and support team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead all project financial administration and fiscal management activities.
• Oversee project forecasting, financial reporting, and closing processes.
• Conduct risk and opportunity analysis to identify potential project impacts and improve financial outcomes.
• Act as an independent financial advisor during project forecast reviews and planning meetings.
• Monitor key project performance indicators and proactively communicate financial risks and opportunities to leadership.
• Review and evaluate change management activities for financial implications and consistency.
• Support, mentor, and develop junior accounting and project finance professionals while fostering a collaborative team environment.
