Job summary

Paylocity in Philadelphia, PA seeks an experienced Construction Project Accountant to manage job costing, WIP reporting, and project billing. The role partners with project managers and internal accounting staff to ensure accurate budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in line with GAAP.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in construction accounting, strong Excel skills, and a solid understanding of GAAP and job costing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required or strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting concepts (job costing, percentage-of-completion, WIP, retainage, contract billing).
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
• Experience with payroll systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate financial statements and project reports (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, job cost, WIP).
• Analyze project costs, forecasts, and budgets to identify trends and cost-control opportunities.
• Collaborate with project managers and accounting staff to explain variances and support forecasts.
• Support job costing, retainage tracking, change orders, and project profitability analysis.
• Develop management reports with key metrics and actionable insights.
