Job summary

AECOM Hunt invites applications for a Project Accountant to join our Phoenix or Los Angeles offices. The role supports moderately complex projects, prepares financial reports, and provides analysis and recommendations while maintaining GAAP-compliant records.

Reporting to the local Project Executive and Regional Controller, you will work in a matrixed environment and contribute to revenue recognition reviews and project analyses. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Business or Finance with 2 years accounting experience, or A/AS with 4 years, or HSD/GED with 6 years, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in construction project accounting.

Responsibilities

• Supports moderately complex project(s) under general supervision.
• Prepares financial reports and provides analysis and recommendations.
• Maintains records according to GAAP and applies professional concepts.
• Performs audits and generates special financial reports.
• Reviews projects for revenue recognition and provides analysis; reports to Project Executive.

Job Description

AECOM Hunt has an exciting opportunity to join our team of professionals as a Project Accountant in our Phoenix or Los Angeles offices.

• Supports moderately complex project(s), working under general supervision.
• Prepares various financial reports and provides analysis and recommendations based on findings.
• Requires a proven ability to apply professional concepts in a productive, consistent manner. Maintains records according to generally accepted accounting practices.
• Performs audits and generates special financial reports.
• Reviews projects for accurate revenue recognition and provides project analysis and recommendations based on findings.
• Matrixed environment, reports to local Project Executive and Regional Controller.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Business, Finance or relevant curriculum and 2 years of accounting experience or A/AS and 4 years of relevant experience or HSD/GED and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Construction project accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience in construction accounting.
• Experience with construction financial documentation.
• Strong Excel experience.
• CMiC or Textura experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate ownership of processes.

• This position will be located in either Los Angeles, CA or Phoenix, AZ.
