Job summary

SLSCO LTD seeks a Construction Project Accountant to work with project teams and oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable project completion. Primary duties include AP, AR, and project compliance, with reporting to the Northeast Controller.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, a strong communicator, and familiar with the construction industry in a fast-paced environment. CMiC/Textura experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in operational construction accounting
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• General understanding of cost accounting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong proficiency with MS Office and Excel

Responsibilities

• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of project reports
• Assist in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
• Review vendor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance
• Set up billing rates and terms per contracts
• Assist in preparing client invoices
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
• Review projects' financial data monthly for data completeness
• Support month-end close data gathering and reporting

Job description

We are seeking a Construction Project Accountant to work directly with the project teams to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of the assigned project(s). The Construction Project Accountant has responsibility for AP, AR, and project compliances. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, an effective communicator, familiar with the construction industry, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The Project Accountant position will report directly to the SLS Northeast Controller, or their designee.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Helps to ensure timeliness and accuracy of the project reports
• Assist in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
• Review and audit vendor invoices for accuracy and required backup per contract
• Properly review, analyze, and set up billing rates and terms per contracts
• Assists in preparing client invoices
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
• Follow system controls to ensure data integrity
• Review projects financial data monthly to ensure completeness of the data
• Assists in gathering data for reporting during the month-end close process
• Assists in ERP conversion/implementation testing and participation in training sessions
• Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Ideal Position Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in operational construction accounting, preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
• General understanding of cost accounting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
• Experience with CMiC and Textura strongly preferred
• Working knowledge and experience with G702/G703 AIA Billing, required
