Coordinate schedules and manpower of fabrication, erection, electrical, and water systems on capital projects. Works with engineering to design the most cost effective modifications to existing plants. Works with Plant Manager during planning, erection, and start-up during projects. Promote full compliance of safety program and leadership. Provide ongoing repair and maintenance support.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for SHE, quality assurance, employee relations and cost control.
  • Enforcing safety regulations, conducting regular inspections, and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that project levels are at an optimum with a minimum of downtime.
  • Responsible for the safety of all personnel and activities in the work area.
  • Create a strong working relationship with suppliers and vendors.
  • Supervising, scheduling, and training plant staff, including contractors, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance, repair, and availability of plant equipment and tools.
  • Addressing and resolving any production or personnel issues promptly.
  • Preparing and maintaining production reports, shift logs, and other necessary records.
  • Monitoring expenses, identifying variances, and contributing to budget planning.
  • Maintaining clear communication within the plant and with other departments, including project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders.
  • Overseeing daily operations, delegating tasks, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
  • Ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education
  • High School diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • College or technical school education related to construction trades is preferred.
Experience
  • Field experience with installation of crushing plants. Hands on experience with trade skills, welding and equipment operation.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior work experience in supervising production employees preferably at an aggregate plant.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of welding, erection, fabrication, electrical and plumbing practices.
  • Thorough working knowledge of aggregates products, processes and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations (MSHA and OSHA).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, conflict and problem resolution skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment and other software packages relevant to the position.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret blue prints.
  • Ability to plan and manage effectively using motivation and team building skills.
  • Must represent Vulcan in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal employees.
Other Requirements
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to drive a pick-up truck on a daily basis.
  • Work environment will be both indoors in an office and outside in the quarry or plant. In the office employee will occasionally be required to sit at a desk or operator's station. In the outside setting employee will perform activities in unprotected heights, around moving machinery, be exposed to dust, fumes and gases; may be required to use hand tools or power tools.
  • Outside setting will expose employee to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Extensive Travel required: 75%
  • Flexible to work long hours and travel when needed.
  • Working nights and weekends may be required to meet customer demands or project deadlines.
