Job Overview
Position: Construction Observer (all levels). Provide construction oversight for highway, bridge, and airport projects across multiple states by monitoring compliance with plans, specifications, and conducting material testing.
Responsibilities
- Represent the owner in monitoring construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Observe and document construction of airport paving, drainage, utility, lighting, structural, and site development.
- Travel up to approximately 50% of the time, primarily within Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky.
- Schedule or perform onsite construction materials testing.
- Coordinate and communicate field construction activities with contractors, designers, and owner’s representatives.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of roadway or airport construction experience.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an airport environment (preferred).
- Experience with other infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, earth structures.
- Completion of IDOT Construction Technician courses: Documentation of Contracts and Quantities, 3-Day Aggregate, PCC Level I and II, HMA Level I and II.
- Holder of, or ability to obtain, NASSCO certification.
- Holder of, or ability to obtain, ITCP-CIPP, PACP, LACP, MACP certifications.
- Department of Transportation project experience (Illinois preferred).
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, with strong interpersonal communication skills.
Salary
Hourly rate: $30.00-$45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
