Job summary

Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is seeking a Construction Observer for an on-site, full-time role in Rio Rancho, NM. The position requires a minimum of five years' inspection experience on roadway or heavy civil projects and the ability to review contract documents and drawings.

Candidates must pass Huitt-Zollars security clearance. Responsibilities include QA inspections, reporting, submittal reviews, and daily/monthly project documentation to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' inspection experience on roadway or heavy civil projects.
• Must pass Huitt-Zollars security clearance review.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred/registration a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily quality assurance inspection of construction to determine compliance with contract documents and specifications.
• Review construction contractor submittals for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
• Provide Daily reports of surveillance activities and monthly progress reports.
• Inspect on-site plant (storage yards and temporary facilities), materials and equipment for full compliance with contract plans, specifications, and OSHA requirements.
• Observe construction contractors and subcontractors' performance of work.
• Attend meetings for inspection coordination, contract administration, site security and all project matters.

Role Description

Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunities for Construction Observers in the Rio Rancho area with a minimum 5 years' experience. This role works on-site and performs quality assurance inspections, reporting, review of contract documents and drawings, schedules, quality control plans. Candidates must pass HZ security clearance review.

Duties

• Provide concrete field-testing technician, American Concrete Institute.
• Traffic controls supervisor, Associated Contractors of New Mexico.
• 10-hour constructions health and safety, OSHA.
• Drilled shaft inspector, NMDOT technician training and certification program.
• Nuclear densometer, NMDOT technician training and certification program.
• Provide daily quality assurance inspection of construction to determine compliance with contract documents and specifications.
• Review construction contractor submittals for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
• Provide Daily reports of surveillance activities and monthly progress reports.
• Inspect on-site plant (storage yards and temporary facilities), materials and equipment for full compliance with contract plans, specifications, and OSHA requirements.
• Observe construction contractors, subcontractor's performance of work.
• Provide recommendations to appropriate HZ representatives as to whether work is in full compliance.
• Provide technical support, review contract pay request for accuracy and process submittals.
• Attend meetings for inspection coordination, contract administration, site security and all other project matters.
• Perform closeout and warranty execution responsibility to include ensuring all necessary documentation is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management and registration a plus.
• Must pass HZ security clearance review.
• Desired 5-10 years of construction inspection experience in roadway, earthwork, concrete or other heavy civil construction projects.

Physical Requirements
