Job Title:Construction Materials Testing Technician (Full-time)

***Work Location: Atlanta, GA ***

Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diverse materials testing and some construction inspections. The materials testing is done mainly in the field, with potential for lab work as needed.
  • Responsible for supporting the company's CEI services for ensuring quality assurance for clients and projects.
  • Some duties include performing moisture and compaction tests using Nuclear Densimeter or sand cone device.
  • Responsibilities include obtaining representative field samples and performing a variety of tests on concrete materials to determine temperature, unit, weight, slump, yield, and air entrainment.
  • The role entails working in proximity to heavy construction equipment, requiring standing and climbing in and out of deep trenches, exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and dust, along with working in adverse weather conditions.
  • You will be required to use appropriate safety equipment and procedures in performing assignments.
  • You will report to the Engineer/Project Manager who reviews work through conferences, observations of work, and overall results achieved.
  • Communicates with the public, other employees, vendors, management, and contractors to relay/review job progress, results of lab/field tests, and scheduling of work.
  • Prepares test results documentation to relay job progress and describe unusual job site conditions.
  • Meets scheduling and attendance requirements.
  • Understands and interprets schematic drawings to locate and record where sampling/testing was obtained.
  • Learns job-related material through on-the-job training and in a classroom setting regarding field and lab sampling and testing procedures.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the materials used in construction.
  • 1-5 years of experience in building construction, construction inspection, paraprofessional engineering work, or work involving construction materials testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
