Job summary

Atlas in New Jersey is seeking a dedicated CMT Field Technician to perform field observations and materials sampling/testing on construction projects. You will document contractor progress, cast concrete/masonry/grout samples, and coordinate with the site team to ensure quality and safety.

Responsibilities include daily reports, material handling between site and lab, and adherence to Atlas safety standards. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local sites are required.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of field or construction support experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field observations and sampling/testing of soils, concrete, and masonry.
  • Write daily field reports and document contractor compliance.
  • Cast field samples for strength verification.
  • Coordinate sample transport between site and laboratory.
  • Communicate daily progress to management and safety officials.
  • Adhere to Atlas safety policies and travel to local sites as needed.

Job Description

At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you’re looking for a CMT Field Technician role ready to perform field observations and materials sampling/testing and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. You’ll conduct field observations and materials sampling/testing, document contractor compliance through daily reports, cast concrete, masonry, and grout samples, communicate daily progress to management, and transport samples and equipment between the site and laboratory.

Core Responsibilities

Perform Field Observations and Materials Sampling/Testing during Construction of Buildings, Bridges and Roadways.

Perform testing on construction materials including, Soils, Reinforcing Steel, Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel, Fireproofing, Metal Decking, Roofing and Paving.

Write Daily Field Reports documenting work performed by various contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents.

Cast Field Samples of Concrete, Masonry, Grout, for strength verification.

Provide Daily Phone Calls to Department Manager to inform of Daily progress of the project.

Pick-up construction material samples and deliver to laboratory, deliver equipment to site technicians.

Comply with all Company safety policies.

You’ll thrive here if you

Must have a minimum of a high school education.

Must have a minimum of 0 to 2 years’ experience.

Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to pass MVR, dependable transportation.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred ACI and/or ICC certifications in soils, concrete and masonry

Troxler or compatible Nuclear Gage Certification.

Possess physical strength, stamina, and dexterity for repeatedly lifting and moving, stooping, bending, climbing, and standing in varying weather conditions at various remote construction sites with varying terrain.

Adhere to Atlas and site-specific safety standards.

Have the ability to travel to local and occasionally out of town sites, with short notice.

Have the ability to read and interpret maps and directions as well as project specifications & plans.

Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.

Must have the ability to work independently and on project teams.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

About the Job

  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 hourly rate
    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
