Alta Environmental & Infrastructure (Alta E&I) in Tempe, AZ, seeks a driven Construction Materials Testing Project Manager to join its Geotechnical team. The ideal candidate holds an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with a solid geotechnical or materials testing background and proven project management experience from conception to completion.

The role blends technical leadership and client-facing duties, emphasizing safety, quality, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of geotechnical, materials testing or construction engineering experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, gInt, or AutoCAD.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and standards for all projects.
• Manage a small staff, interact with clients and deliver weekly reports on materials testing and inspections.
• Independently perform projects or segments of larger projects.
• Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations and modifications.
• Prepare proposals and reports for varying project complexity.
• Perform quality control review of proposals written by others.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.

General Summary:

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Construction Materials Testing Project Manager to join our Geotechnical team. The ideal candidate will have their Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, a strong foundation in geotechnical principles and/or construction materials testing, and proven experience managing projects from conception to completion. This role will involve both technical and managerial responsibilities, with an emphasis on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow safety rules and standards for all projects.
• Engineering professional with responsibility for managing a small staff, interacting with clients and delivering weekly reports related to materials testing and special inspections (per the IBC).
• Independently perform a variety of projects or selected segments of larger projects.
• Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
• Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity.
• Perform quality control review of proposals written by others.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Participate in marketing, sales, and business development.
