Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. seeks a Project Manager in its Northern New Jersey office. You will oversee construction materials testing for land development, coordinating technicians and directing inspections for earthwork, concrete, foundations, and steel.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in geotechnical engineering or CMT, with a background in bids/proposals and client interaction; an EIT/PE is a plus. Join a 100% ESOP firm offering growth and stability in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or geology preferred.
• 3–5 years field or project management experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or construction project management.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1–3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications a plus (ACI, NECEPT, ICC).

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects.
• Coordinate, supervise, review, and direct technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Perform on-site project inspections including soil bearing/compaction tests, concrete, and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings as necessary.
• Assist the Branch Manager in running a successful operation.

We are seeking a Project Manager in our Northern New Jersey office. Candidate must be dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment.

Assignments will include management of construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects.
