Overview

Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Manager

Ninyo & Moore has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Manager to run our geotechnical and construction materials testing lab in our Las Vegas, Nevada office. The successful candidate will be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the standard test methods for all tests performed by a lab including those performed by asphalt, concrete and soils technicians. Duties also include supervision and mentorship of the laboratory staff, maintaining proper and complete laboratory data, lab certification and maintenance, maintain/purchase equipment, responsible for budget control, work flow and clear communications with the Project Manager regarding all aspects of the laboratory operations including providing neat and orderly project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory in Las Vegas, NV.
• Ensure thorough knowledge and application of standard test methods for asphalt, concrete and soils testing.
• Supervise and mentor laboratory staff; maintain accurate laboratory data and documentation; maintain lab certifications and equipment upkeep.
• Manage equipment purchases and maintenance; monitor budget and workflow; ensure clear communications with the Project Manager.
• Provide neat, orderly project documentation and reporting.

Required Skills

• Soil, asphalt & concrete testing experience or equivalent. Professional registrations or certifications and 5+ years of experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; positive attitude; strong organizational skills and work ethic.
• Current valid driver’s license.

Required Certifications

• ACI certifications: Concrete Strength Testing Technician, Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I, Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 1, Aggregate Base Testing Technician, Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 2, and Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician.
• Should also have or be able to obtain NAQTC Sampling and Density, Aggregate, Asphalt and Asphalt Extended tests.
