Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Intern Level I in Chantilly, VA. The role observes and begins routine field and laboratory testing tasks, supporting data collection, documentation, and testing activities under supervision while gaining familiarity with construction materials testing methods and project workflows.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering, or other degree related to our services.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds repeatedly.
• Commitment to safety and accurate data collection.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction materials observation and testing in field and laboratory.
• Observe and participate in testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Document site conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Prepare and organize field and laboratory equipment.
• Perform basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction tasks.
• Communicate with field staff, contractors, and project team members.
• Keep supervisors informed of changing conditions and testing needs.
• Support laboratory testing activities including sample prep and curing.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.
