Job summary

Knife River is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team in Texas. This role will collect, prepare, test, and analyze construction materials (aggregates, asphalt, concrete) to ensure quality and adherence to project specs.

You will perform lab and field testing, maintain equipment, and collaborate with Quality Control, Operations and Sales to support production. The position requires safe lab practices, precise data recording, and the ability to work overtime or varying shifts.

Qualifications

• TXAPA Level 1A certification preferred.
• Related college degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training preferred.
• Previous experience in construction materials testing or quality control preferred.
• Previous analytical laboratory experience in a regulated industry preferred.
• Experience using laboratory testing equipment and established testing procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of aggregate, asphalt, and concrete testing procedures preferred.
• Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and integrity per Knife River policies.
• Safely collect, prepare, and test aggregates, asphalt, and concrete samples.
• Perform laboratory and field testing including gradation and asphalt/concrete testing.
• Conduct quality control inspections to meet standards.
• Set up and maintain laboratory testing equipment.
• Follow SOPs to ensure accurate test results.
• Record and report test results per procedures.
• Analyze data to identify quality concerns and communicate findings.
• Collaborate with Quality Control, Operations, and Sales staff to support production needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe lab and work environment.
• Protect confidentiality of company information.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, and good work habits.
• Comply with Knife River’s Code of Integrity and Conduct.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
