About The Role:

As a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician, you'll play a key role in verifying the quality and dependability of our projects by performing standard laboratory tests on construction materials. Working alongside seasoned technicians and professionals, you'll ensure accurate, detailed reporting of results while occasionally reviewing the work of junior team members. You'll also help keep testing equipment calibrated, clean, and ready for use. Familiarity with electronic reporting tools and a solid understanding of testing standards are important for success in this role.

  • Testing & Documentation: Carry out laboratory testing of soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt, and prepare precise reports with minimal oversight. The data you provide will directly influence project outcomes and client satisfaction.
  • Equipment Management: Take responsibility for maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning laboratory equipment so that accurate testing is always possible.
  • Team Coordination: On select projects, assign tasks to other staff and provide an initial review of their test results, supporting efficiency and teamwork within the lab.
About You:
  • You have a High School diploma/GED
  • You have vocational training, a plus
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory
  • You have two(2) or more active industry certifications:
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
    • International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
  • You have effective math skills with a strong understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
You Are Willing and Able to:
  • Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
    • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
    • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
    • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
    • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
