Job summary

TTL is seeking a Construction Materials Laboratory/Field Technician for its Mobile, AL operations to support the Mobile River Bridge project. The role involves laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt under supervision.

You will perform tests per ALDOT, ASTM and AASHTO standards, maintain equipment, and compile detailed data and reports. Qualifications include a high school diploma and proficiency in MS Office; willingness to obtain industry certifications and to

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. College coursework or degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping and detailed laboratory analyses, reports, and field notes.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute skills required for specialized laboratory and field-testing of construction materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregate, soils)
  • Currently have relevant certifications or the ability to obtain certifications from regulatory agencies such as the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), and others.
  • Compile accurate and detailed data, reports, and laboratory analyses
  • Perform calculations utilizing basic mathematical skills
  • Maintain routine laboratory instruments and field testing equipment according to manufacturer's instructions and relevant ASTM standards
  • Use correct techniques and materials in accordance with industry standards, (e.g., ASTM AASHTO)
  • Perform the calibration of testing equipment at the frequency required by the ASTM and AASHTO standards and maintain the official records for the calibration activities
  • Perform the testing for relevant ASTM's during on site assessments by both AASHTO resource and CCRL representatives
  • Demonstrates compliance with all required safety protocols
  • Attends or completes weekly safety meetings or topics

Construction Materials Laboratory/Field Technician – Mobile, AL

TTL is looking for a Laboratory/Field Technician for our Mobile, AL operations. This is a chance to work long-term on the historical Mobile River Bridge project in Mobile, AL. If you have experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance testing of construction materials in a field and laboratory setting, then you might be a great fit to work on this flagship project!

Perform laboratory and field work in accordance with applicable ALDOT, ASTM and AASHTO standard procedures. Field and lab testing will be performed under supervision of our Senior Materials Engineer and Senior Lab Manager. Activities and materials typically encountered include but are not limited to tests for density, moisture content, gradation, and strength regarding soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.

  • Detail-oriented and organized with electronic information as well as physical samples
