Job summary

Vertex Resources Services Inc. seeks an Entry Level Construction Material Testing Technician to work in Conroe, Texas. You will perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and rebar, and report findings to the Project Manager.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 1–2 years of related experience, and proficiency with Word/Excel. Travel, a valid driver's license, and a clean background are required; ACI certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with laptop use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• ACI certification in Concrete Strength Testing preferred.
• Clean background check; valid driver’s license with acceptable history; willing and able to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials per ASTM/AASHTO/TxDOT.
• Prepare and process soil samples for classification and testing.
• Conduct moisture-density, sieve analysis, compaction, CBR, and related tests.
• Perform concrete compression testing and assist with fresh concrete testing.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and submit reports to Project Manager.
• Maintain equipment and calibration; follow safety rules and procedures.

OVERVIEW

Vertex Resources Services Inc. is currently accepting applications for aConstruction Material Testing Technician(Entry Level) to work out of Conroe, Texas. The successful candidate would perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and rebar). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative, and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1- 2 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience. (Preferred)
• Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• ACI certification in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Concrete Strength Testing Technician

• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
• Clean Background Check
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
• Willing and able to travel

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and TxDOT standards.
• Prepare and process soil samples for classification and engineering testing.
• Perform moisture-density, Atterberg limits, sieve analysis, compaction, CBR, and other geotechnical laboratory tests.
• Conduct concrete compression testing and assist with fresh concrete testing.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
• Assists higher-level technicians on complex tasks.
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
• Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Perform other duties as needed

LOCATION

This position will be based out of Conroe, Texas.
