Job summary

PMCS Group, Inc. in the Los Angeles area seeks a Construction Manager I–III to lead multiple infrastructure projects, including roadway, storm drain, dams, channels, pump stations, waterworks, sewer, traffic signal, and landscaping.

You will manage contract administration, change orders, and on-site field activities. Ideal candidates have 5–15 years of CM experience, education in Architecture/Civil Engineering/Construction Management, and strong communication skills; ability to coordinate with

Qualifications

  • Experience: CM I requires 5+ years; CM II requires 10+ years; CM III requires 15+ years in construction management of horizontal infrastructure.
  • Education in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to independently complete assignments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain logs.
  • Ability to interpret contract plans and permits.
  • Ability to facilitate project team and client meetings.
  • Ability to negotiate and prepare change orders.
  • Ability to monitor and coordinate project activities with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Greenbook or Caltrans specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction inspection, oversight, enforcement of contract documents, and on-site management of the construction project.
  • Prepare and process change orders, daily reports, and working day statements; collect work records; maintain accurate records of work performed for payment purposes; conduct employee interviews; prepare as-built plans; and perform other associated administrative tasks.
  • Negotiate change orders.
  • Prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Schedule materials testing and construction staking with Public Works staff.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, elected officials, other agencies, and others within Public Works.
  • Coordinate construction activities with contractors, other agencies, and others within Public Works.
  • Prepare written correspondence to contractors.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Review the work of other consultants and ensure compliance with instructions.
  • Review and make recommendations on contractor submittals.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on changes in scope of work.
  • Prepare project meeting agendas, run project meetings, and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Perform plan and specifications constructability reviews.

Requirement: Must live in or relocate to the Los Angeles, CA area

Position Description: Manage several infrastructure projects including roadway, storm drain, dams, channels, pump stations, waterworks, sewer, traffic signal, and landscaping.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years (CM I), 10 years (CM II) or 15 years (CM III) of experience of construction management experience managing horizontal infrastructure projects including duties in contract administration, project close out, and concurrent field experience.
  • Education background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to independently complete assignments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain logs.
  • Ability to interpret contract plans and specifications, including other agency permits.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders.
  • Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate project activities with the various project stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges.
  • Knowledge of the Greenbook or Caltrans specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
