Job summary

AFL Telecommunications, LLC is seeking a Construction Manager II to lead fast-paced DAS and BTS projects, coordinating materials, crews, and tools to complete work on time and within budget. This on-site role requires travel and close collaboration with customers and the Operations Manager.

You will prepare scope reports, oversee feasibility walks, and manage safety and quality on medium-sized sites while driving results and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in related field required or 2+ years equivalent experience in a similar technical management position.
  • Extensive relevant technical experience including iDAS, oDAS, BTS, repeater systems.
  • Familiarity with business concepts related to IT and networking in business operations.
  • Expertise in at least one DAS proficiency (cabling, fiber, BTS/HE, conduit/electrical).
  • Working knowledge of power -48Vdc and Vdc power systems.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications industry and related licenses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Operations Manager and coordinates and leads teams at a project site.
  • Leads teams to conduct feasibility walks for potential project sites.
  • Prepares reports on project scoping, feasibility walks, and progress.
  • Assembles and installs iDAS, oDAS, BTS, repeater systems and related equipment.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to develop on-site solutions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Provides leadership and coaching to crews on medium-sized jobs.
  • Uses test gear software to analyze test results and ensure quality.
  • Troubleshoots issues and handles trouble tickets and maintenance.
  • Collaborates to locate and fix malfunctions across teams.
  • Conducts daily safety meetings and ensures a safe work environment.
  • Prepares and distributes regular performance/status reports.
  • Responsible for materials management and site surveys/quality checks.
  • Interfaces with customers for front-line support and problem resolution.
  • Interprets policies and presents to stakeholders with tact.
  • Upholds AFL Environmental, Health & Safety policies.

Job Summary

The Construction Manager II leads fast paced DAS and/or BTS projects in the southeastern US. The Construction Manager executes job plans by coordinating and scheduling assignments, coordinating the materials logistics, crews, and tools required to complete projects on time and within budget. Frequent communication and proactive planning to both internal and external customers. A key team position to coordinate all efforts to satisfy customer expectations.

This is an on-site position with the construction team and requires travel.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Operations Manager and coordinates and leads teams at a project site
  • Leads teams to conduct feasibility walks related to potential project sites
  • Prepares reports related to project scoping, feasibility walks, and daily/weekly project progress
  • Assembles and installs communication equipment iDAS, oDAS, BTS, repeater systems and other
  • Uses problem-solving skills to develop solutions on site to ensure projects are moving forward
  • Provides leadership and coaching to a crew in execution of work on medium sized job sites
  • Uses knowledge of test gear software for analyzing test results
  • Utilizes troubleshooting skills to handle trouble tickets, alarming, and maintenance activities
  • Collaborates with other workers to locate and correct malfunctions
  • Performs daily safety meetings, JSA’s, toolbox meetings and ensures a safe working environment for crews
  • Prepares and distributes regular performance and status reports as required
  • Responsible for materials management
  • Conducts site surveys, quality checks and job audits
  • Responsible for front-line customer support including interfacing with the customer, providing guidance on problem resolution, ensuring on time customer service, and maintaining a strong customer relationship
  • Interprets policies and communicates in situations requiring persuasion and tact; prepares and presents presentations
  • Uses good judgment and represents AFL with integrity
  • Understands, adheres to, & promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL Telecoms.

  • Familiarity with business concepts related to the use of information technologies and networking in all aspects of business and organizational operations for the achievement of business/operating objectives
  • Expertise in at least one DAS proficiency (cabling. Fiber, BTS/HE, conduit/electrical)
  • Working knowledge of Vdc Power and -48Vdc power
  • Working knowledge of test equipment including PIM testing, sweep analyzers, circuits, OTDR and signal generating sets, as it pertains to the job field
  • Organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications industry
  • Current industry-related licenses and certifications preferred

Working Conditions

  • Use of small hand and power tools.
  • Climbs stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
  • Carrys loads up & down stairs.
  • General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. However, the ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
  • Must be able to work in the United States.
