Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee infrastructure projects in the San Antonio area. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality while coordinating with contractors and clients to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.

Responsibilities include RFIs, submittals, change orders, closeout, reporting, and ensuring environmental compliance. Leadership experience and CCM certification are strongly preferred for this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field is required or equivalent experience.
  • CCM certification is highly preferred and indicates experience in managing complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality to support on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Lead project administration activities such as RFIs, submittals, change management, pay applications, and closeout documentation as applicable.
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, agencies, and internal disciplines to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
  • Support constructability reviews, value engineering, commissioning, startup, and owner training.
  • Maintain and review project documentation and reporting to track progress, compliance, and risks.
  • Promote job site safety and oversee applicable environmental compliance requirements.
  • Directly supervise construction managers, inspectors, resident project representatives, field engineers, and field services personnel.
  • Lead and mentor project staff, supporting team development and effective workload coordination.
  • Facilitate startup/commissioning activities, punch lists, and coordination with supporting teams (e.g., document control, survey, environmental, land acquisition) as applicable.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for owners, contractors, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings and facilitate resolution of construction, quality, schedule, and contractual issues.
  • Support constructability reviews and value engineering efforts to improve delivery efficiency.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 6 years of progressive construction management experience.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability leading project teams and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of project controls, documentation, and construction administration processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Reliability and dependability.
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.
