Planate Management Group, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business, seeks a Construction Manager to support the VA Hospital Grand Junction. The role involves on-site construction oversight, ensuring compliance with contracts, and coordinating activities between construction and facility occupants in Grand Junction, CO.

You will inspect work, identify risks, provide technical input for design reviews and constructability, and assist with procurement of materials and equipment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• 3+ years civil/construction management experience
• Healthcare/hospital facilities experience is a plus
• VA experience is advantageous
• Strong English communication (written and oral)
• Proficient in MS Office applications

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship in completing construction work and inspecting quality
• Monitor means and methods to ensure compliance with contracts, safety, and quality
• Review contractor submittals for compliance and provide guidance
• Perform field inspections to verify workmanship and materials
• Ensure compliance with design, specs, codes and regulations
• Identify deficiencies and coordinate resolutions with the team
• Support safety and quality programs and health, safety, and environmental rules
• Provide constructability input and oversee related engineering disciplines
• Visit project sites to gather site condition information and inform project development
• Assist in procurement package development for design and construction

Overview

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate supports the US Department of Defense (DOD) and other US federal agencies through planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the VA Hospital Grand Junction. You will provide construction oversight and management to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, represent Planate to the client, provide technical advice, and coordinate between construction activities and facility occupants. You will perform inspections, identify risks and issues, and recommend corrective actions. You will provide technical input for design reviews, constructability, and procurement of materials and equipment. This position is on-site in Grand Junction, CO.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship in the completion of construction work and the documentation and inspection of construction quality
• Monitor the means and methods of the construction contractor, providing oversight and direction to ensure compliance with contractual, safety and quality requirements
• Review contractor submittals for compliance, provide approval and/or guidance to the government
• Perform field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used and verify quality of workmanship
• Ensure compliance with the design, specifications, standards and applicable codes and regulations
• Identify and track deficiencies and deviations from plans; work with the construction team to mitigate and resolve
• Review and implement construction safety and quality programs, ensure health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations
• Review project plans and specifications for technical soundness and determine practicability from a construction management standpoint
• Provide design input and oversight related to constructability and other engineering disciplines
• Visit project sites to obtain information on facility/site conditions and develop recommendations during project development
• Support the development of procurement packages for design and construction
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience related to job duties and functions
• Three (3) or more years of civil/construction management work experience, preferably gained from healthcare or hospital facilities
• Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs is an advantage
• Knowledgeable in construction scheduling methods and in building and construction crafts
• Good English communication both written and oral
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office suites
