Planate Management Group seeks an experienced Construction Manager to support the VA Hospital Grand Junction on-site in Grand Junction, CO. You will provide construction oversight to ensure compliance with contractual, safety and quality requirements, and coordinate between construction activities and facility occupants.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent related to job duties and functions.
• Three or more years of civil/construction management experience, preferably in healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling methods and codes/regulations.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.

• Provide leadership and mentorship in completion of construction work and documentation/inspection of quality.
• Monitor means and methods of the contractor, ensure compliance with contract, safety and quality requirements.
• Review contractor submittals for compliance and provide guidance to government.
• Perform field inspections to evaluate work and material quality.
• Ensure compliance with design, specifications, standards and applicable codes/regulations.
• Identify deficiencies and deviations and work with team to mitigate and resolve.
• Review project plans for technical soundness and constructability; provide design input and oversight.

Overview

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate supports the US Department of Defense (DOD) and other US federal agencies through planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the VA Hospital Grand Junction. You will provide construction oversight and management to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, represent Planate to the client, provide technical advice, and coordinate between construction activities and facility occupants. You will perform inspections, identify risks and issues, and recommend corrective actions. You will provide technical input for design reviews, constructability, and procurement of materials and equipment. This position is on-site in Grand Junction, CO.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship in the completion of construction work and the documentation and inspection of construction quality
• Monitor the means and methods of the construction contractor, providing oversight and direction to ensure compliance with contractual, safety and quality requirements
• Review contractor submittals for compliance, provide approval and/or guidance to the government
• Perform field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used and verify quality of workmanship
• Ensure compliance with the design, specifications, standards and applicable codes and regulations
• Identify and track deficiencies and deviations from plans; work with the construction team to mitigate and resolve
• Review and implement construction safety and quality programs, ensure health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations
• Review project plans and specifications for technical soundness and determine practicability from a construction management standpoint
• Provide design input and oversight related to constructability and other engineering disciplines
• Visit project sites to obtain information on facility/site conditions and develop recommendations during project development
• Support the development of procurement packages for design and construction
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience related to job duties and functions
• Three (3) or more years of civil/construction management work experience, preferably gained from healthcare or hospital facilities
• Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs is an advantage
• Knowledgeable in construction scheduling methods and in building and construction crafts
• Good English communication both written and oral
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office suites
